Your session

“I’m not photogenic.” Everybody says that.

Almost every person who walks in tells me the same thing. Being photogenic is really just knowing what to do in front of a camera, and that part is my job, not yours.

What are we actually going for?

Someone confident and approachable. Someone people want to work with. Expression coaching gets us most of the way there, and the lighting is built around your face rather than dropped on top of it.

What does it look like?

Clean and current. A solid background, usually gray or white, so the frame belongs entirely to you.

How long does it take?

As long as you need. There’s no clock running, so the honest answer depends on what you’re after. If you want one LinkedIn headshot and you arrive already wearing it, you can be out the door in about twenty minutes.

Most sessions land between thirty minutes and an hour. That’s where people end up when they bring a few options and want some variety to choose from. Branding and modeling sessions run longer, anywhere from an hour to three.

What should I wear?

Solid, neutral colors photograph best. Keep patterns and textures subtle, and necklines simple. For a business headshot, wear the suit or dress that fits you properly. A good fit matters far more than a designer label.

Bring a selection of clothes to the shoot. The session runs as long as it takes, so we keep going until we have it.

Hair and makeup?

Keep makeup simple rather than heavy, and wear your hair the way you want it in the photograph. I do encourage booking our hair and makeup artist. It makes more difference than most people expect.

Anything to do beforehand?

Start hydrating a few days out, and moisturize the night before. Skin that reads well on camera is largely decided before you arrive. A prep package with coaching videos and styling notes reaches you as soon as you book.

How much retouching do you do?

Blemishes go, skin tone evens out, flyaways are tidied. That’s the extent of it. You should still be recognizable when you walk into the room, which keeps the result human.

How do we pick the photos?

Together. We look through them during the session, then again afterward, one-on-one. You’ll leave knowing which frame belongs on LinkedIn and which belongs on your website. The choice stays yours throughout.

When do I get the photos?

Your retouched images arrive within five business days, in an online gallery you can download from whenever you need them.

If your deadline is tighter than that, I can turn them around in 24 hours for an upcharge. Just tell me when you book.

All you have to do is show up.

I’ll take care of the rest. Still weighing it up? See pricing.
